The Joker And The Cowboy
you didn't see the light in my eyes fade
choked out by the cactus in your desert at noon
I couldn't get a drink from you as I lie parched
my smile went away in a night
cut from my memory
by your razored thoughts
midnight in your steps meant doom
you left me to freeze in the scorching cold
I shiver in your glare
while you stood stoically in your ignorance
I lied to myself
with thoughts, he'll return
as you rode the first train out
it's a wonder I didn't see sooner
the toxicity of it all
games of who done it
was no thriller or mystery
the knife was always in your hand
I taught you how to be a killer
should have guessed you'd turn it on me
eviscerate me in my madness
with innocence in your eyes
sunrise in your glance
so deceptive and skilled in the art
a lothario of chance fickle in tastes
honesty is a joker;
you pulled out of cracker jack box
when popularity is King
a fake tattoo that washes off
you no longer want to live by the ink
of the words, you spilled
