Everything I had
Am I not rich enough?
I would have given you every penny I had
Am I not caring enough?
I would have listened to every thought in your head
I would have brought you soup if you were sick
Shared ice cream with you under the beating sun
I would have bundled with you under blankets in the cold winter nights
Everything I have
Everything I am
All my feelings hanging on a clothes line
Out to dry
Isn’t even
Worth a reply
Now I look down
At my empty hands
Because I gave you
Everything
Isn’t it sad?
How I poured my heart out
And gave you everything I had
Now all I have are empty pockets
And tear jerking memories
Of you telling me
You regret the things you said
And how you wish
We’d never met
You said you hate me
As you walked out
Discarding me like dirty laundry
Sprawled around this empty room
That still smells like you
A scent that lingers
Filling my head
With the memories of you
I would have given you every penny I had
Am I not caring enough?
I would have listened to every thought in your head
I would have brought you soup if you were sick
Shared ice cream with you under the beating sun
I would have bundled with you under blankets in the cold winter nights
Everything I have
Everything I am
All my feelings hanging on a clothes line
Out to dry
Isn’t even
Worth a reply
Now I look down
At my empty hands
Because I gave you
Everything
Isn’t it sad?
How I poured my heart out
And gave you everything I had
Now all I have are empty pockets
And tear jerking memories
Of you telling me
You regret the things you said
And how you wish
We’d never met
You said you hate me
As you walked out
Discarding me like dirty laundry
Sprawled around this empty room
That still smells like you
A scent that lingers
Filling my head
With the memories of you
