Restore
When three days I’ve wandered
When three days I’ve cried
When three days I’ve hidden
When three days I’ve lied
Three less days to be with you
Three less whispers of love
Three less thoughts to share with you
Three less stories thereof
Three less questions to bring to you
Three less notions to wonder
Three less visions to dream with you
Three less ideas to ponder
Three less words to speak to you
Three less affections to give
Three less journeys to walk with you
Three less days to forgive
Can time be restored, return from the lost
Can days lost in life, return all they cost
Lost days are fruitless, effort not bearing
Lost days are painful, empty of caring
Lost days are selfish, shallow in substance
Lost days are loveless, wistful reluctance
Lost days rebellious, regret solely stays
Lost, misdirected, fallacious pathways
Lost can be paradox -
Lost can mean found
When suffering chains me
I seem to be bound
by days in awareness
in solitude praying
by days that seem endless
with heavy heart weighing
by time lost before this
days in the past
when love was
not spoken
not given
but dashed
I take heart in the hope
that God will restore
time that was lost
and multiply more
multiply fruitfulness
multiply peace
multiply patience
forbearance increase
multiply goodness
faithfulness
joy
self-discipline
gentleness
kindness employ
God will restore what suffering stole
days once endured
loneliness known
He deepens communion,
with Christ in my soul
fills me with gratitude
love overflows
God will restore from my sorrow and grief
make me whole once again
as a seed turned to leaf
God extends life, when I die to myself
less becomes more
in His fullness
I dwell
Three less days of life, Christ lived
Three less days on this earth
Three less days, then love did win
Love restored what was lost,
to His worth
“So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Psalms 90:12 NKJV
“The grass withers and the flowers fade beneath the breath of the Lord. And so it is with people. The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”
Isaiah 40:7-8 NLT
“So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”
1 Peter 1:6-7 NLT
“I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.”
John 12:24 NLT
