Once had a thing for hippie chicks
Bell bottom blues and tie-dyed hues
Hitchhiking down on Highway 1
Thumb out for an easy ride
The Day-Glo man gave her a lift
Turned left at the right commune
A revelation, opened eyes
The Electric Kool-Aid at its best
She danced naked near the fire
Toking joints and drinking wine
Jokes beneath a gibbous moon
Forgetting war and family ties
She later laid beneath the stars
Counting them in cosmic awe
A psychedelic comet trail
A galaxy lacking a flaw.

Bravo Sir Crow! When I read the title, before seeing the awesome pic, I thought maybe it was and ode to "Kiss" and Ace Freely (now I am aware his name is spelled "Frehley.)
I was a mere 5 years old during the Summer of Love...just 50 miles but a world away. I've always felt I was cheated that groovy scene. To tell you the truth, I probably wouldn't have been hip enough to fit in...son of a Big Blue EE. I love the abandon demonstrated by you principal protagonist. And thanks for the "gibbous moon " lesson.

Thank you Gahdess. I was about 14 during the Summer of Love, too young to fully appreciate all it entailed. I did tour 'Frisco at the time though, the Haight-Ashbury district in particular. Hippie Heaven! I just got to be a spectator though, being under the watchful eye of my father. Still a good time!

I lived in the East Bay Area , from 1969 - 74 ,
and was in San Francisco at Winterland every
weekend , at least , to attend some of the best
concerts you could ever imagined...
I did the Dead tour , saw bands like Who , Yes , Stones ,
King Crimson , Robin Trower , Journey , Lou Reed , Hot Tuna
Jefferson Airplane , Tubes , The Band , so many more...
Hippie chicks ?
Right , Left , Back , Forth , On Top , and plenty under me...;)
Everywhere !
Dressed , half dressed , nude , painted...

How many mushrooms , peyote buttons ?

Colombian Gold...( I am not kidding )
I then hitched across the country , staying on
communes , ran organic farms and juice plant ,
went to concerts , gatherings , lived the lifestyle...
Hair , then dreads to the waist , lived in a cabin on
a mountain miles from anyone else...
And learned more from hippie chicks , than anyone
would believe...
I still live in northern California , where they are alive and well !
Let alone for years I lived in Santa Cruz , in it's heyday !
I still have a spot on my sheepskins for the right one , if she shows up !

I spent a lot of time in Santa Cruz back in the very early '70s I'll never forget how relaxed, and relatively quaint, at the time it was. They had a place called The Catalyst that had great bands. Anyway, good times. Thanks for the great comment, Blackwolf!

Nothing wrong with hippies, and that kind of lifestyle, back then !
Truth be told, I wish I was an adult during that era as I’d have been entirely off my face, just roaming through life and experiencing the ‘free love’ era ~ 🌹🌞🌻
