Thunder

Your lightning bolts, as you approach,
still fill us all with wonder!
…until we hear you’re getting close!
Are you the god of thunder?

Flash across the summer sky
with fearsome din, intense!
Then, touch the ground from upon high!
We cower, no defense!

Jupiter, or maybe Thor?
You’ve gone by many names…
The last bolt made me cake my drawers!
…and, now the barn’s aflame!

I pray that you will leave me be
and get on your way!
Damn! You split my Walnut tree!
Celestial horseplay!

Who is the wind, who follows you?
I thought that Aura drowned?
That bitch is a tornado now?
She’s flattening our town!

You’ve left rubble in your wake
and blown down all the trees!
Please don’t return, for all our sakes,
until you’re just a breeze!

The summer weather’s turbulence
can take on many forms.
Mother Nature’s merciless
and loves her summer storms!
