Your Careless Smirk
"Just listen to me, mom."
My words of frustration,
propel from my mouth
Like if shot from a cannon,
Only to be deflected
By your indifference.
They return back at me unanswered,
Striking me in the face.
Your careless smirk
Makes me want
To shut down.
Instead, I turn the key inside
Winding myself up.
Click,
Click,
Click.
Until I can't turn anymore.
Then I let go and bound around
Like the mindless, obedient toy
You always wanted me to be.
My words of frustration,
propel from my mouth
Like if shot from a cannon,
Only to be deflected
By your indifference.
They return back at me unanswered,
Striking me in the face.
Your careless smirk
Makes me want
To shut down.
Instead, I turn the key inside
Winding myself up.
Click,
Click,
Click.
Until I can't turn anymore.
Then I let go and bound around
Like the mindless, obedient toy
You always wanted me to be.
