Hey, SUN!
In summer afternoons, the Sun looks tired.
Does it feel its own burning swelter’s lull?
Does it crave lemonade and iced melons?
Cold ocean, crashing green? A Nehi Grape?
Do stars, on summer days, resent their shine?
The thermostat that’s always set to HOT!?
The tree shade is so cool, the breeze so soft,
You could share, but that’d defeat the purpose.
I’ll make a deal – Shine on to summer night
And I’ll sweet-tea toast your summer’s flight, Cheers!
