Good Night Charlotte
"Good night Charlotte”, he said
Quietly closing the door.
I could tell something was wrong
By the expression he wore.
My dad is a private man,
Who keeps it all in.
But he's been hurting lately
With the death of his twin.
Often he'd share childhood stories
Which caused his face to beam.
“Twins have a unique bond” he said
Then would tell me about a dream.
His brother was on a beach
With a look of joy and peace.
My Dad walked up to him
With tears that wouldn't cease.
Suddenly he stopped and stared,
Overcome with a look of grief.
He just shook his head no,
Still in a state of disbelief.
Dad, You lost your best friend,
And your other half too.
But we can get through this,
I will always be here for you.
