She goes like smoke

I'll wake up to the thought of you tinted on my window
The rain crashing down on these lonely nights
The subtle breathing i hear early morning, and
The whispers of my mind reminding me just how much
I'm missing you right now.

You had always been the morning of my days
The rending light against the darkness of sorrow
The neverending mystery of tomorrow
And the only road in this lingering haze

And now, I wake disinterested in the future
With an empty spot on the other side of the bed
The creases still outline your profile
Screaming the words I never should've said

Ashes crumble like what's left of yesterday
And the remains of the love that burnt out.
You left a subtle aftertaste in my mouth
That will always spell your name aloud.

...

I never used to smoke
But I wanted to find you in the air

You loved me
And I was never aware.
