Two Pigeons
Yours a divine right not to be disturbed,
far beyond 1066 and Norman knights.
Citizen, not Subject to aristocratic whim .
The roof on which you greet the dawn.
beyond my reach this cold November.
Early morning waking mine for you to share.
It is but little time since we found your home,
destroyed by careless man ,
fed you every hour, watched your feathers grow
see you flying high thanks in every wing,
returning breakfast time, garden peas and corn
sitting on my shoulders, pecking fingers that once
held you.,fledgling life free as God intended
while I,Subject to a golden crown,
envy you.
