Apology to the Planet (for when the roaches learn to read)

So we drank
all
the wine
and we ate
all
the chocolates
even the ones no-one wanted
all
gone

The lid
yawns open
the crumpled tongue of the box
wistfully licks cardboard--
everything gone

Humans don't do sorry
but if they did
perhaps our planet
would've been
a better place to live--
or maybe greedy
was all we knew
how to be
