History alone
inadequate to define
the whole I have become
yet in your haste
presuming waste
to ignorance you succumb
Closed eyes
determined
unwilling to see
remaining
recumbent
in judgement of me
With forgiveness
bearing
your pious prosecution
I pray
knowing
you are worthy of absolution
Walk
if you could
amid my memoirs
discover
never will I be
only the sum of my scars

Love love love this write Mel......your word choice and rhymes are on point and I like the alliteration through out gave a nice weight to the message as a whole. Awesome write :)

Dear David,
So true. It is easy to allow ourselves to identify strongly with our pain and let our happiness fall away. I think sometimes I believe it makes me stronger. However, there is real courage and honest strength in not allowing our past to define us. We are beautiful and worthy of love and belonging despite what the past leaves for us to mourn.
