I Am
The mirror is a double-edged blade
It can either puncture my heart or fight off negativity
As I stare into my eyes of warm chocolate shade
I vainly ponder upon my identity.
Society tells me that I can be whomever I want
Yet when I try to express myself, I’m told that I’m doing it wrong
I stand up for what I believe in, yet their reaction is to taunt
I’m of a certain ethnicity; I don’t know any better, so I should just move along.
I remain silent, yet inwardly I’m losing my mind
Stop telling me what to do and what to think!
I may be inexperienced, but I’m not blind
People need to just relax and have a drink.
I am my own person
I am a human being with rights
Your violence and wrongly claimed accusations are only a burden
Stop spreading lies that everything bad is because of the whites.
We’re all human beings
Doesn’t matter the skin color or religion
Our blood’s all the same when we bleed
When we die for a war which cause was pure fiction.
