Scratched Vinyl

A heart like a scratched record
Intro with sublime falsetto
Holy choirs blazing glory
sets my soul into a flurry

but

As the priceless vinyl skips
My lurching gut takes a dip
brass instruments slipping into night
bold Percussion fades into abyss

but

scrubbing grime and filth
expunging dust and cobwebs
A menagerie of chemicals
Google searches and YouTube tutorials
anxious nights and gnawed fingernails
Waterworks to rival Niagara Falls

but

Ceaseless grinding
expands deterioration
The timeless record
hyped by critics
adored by the masses
will never grace these ears

And I'm a...

Sub-human abombination
Born to righteous indignation

Like a subterranean mole
never beholds the beauty of light
