Verbum Vult

With lyric and verse do we battle
for in thy word is the glory
and all of language is thy kingdom.
For our lexicography is just and righteous
as our suit for quarrel.
Our writers-at-arms are marshalled
and our mighty poets shall sally forth
upon rhymes to make the heavens weep.
I, as a lord of this realm salute thee
but shall strike thee down,
in thy impertinent disposition
and for the slander and misuse
or our blessed speech
that has been besmirched by plagiarism
so false and dishonest
of the true anointed authorship.
Thou shalt never infringe
upon the domain we hold dear
never again to darken our portal
with degenerate heretical aberrations.
Beneath the eye shall we fight
as our cause is just
for ours is the favour of the lady,
the Divine Webmistress,
that is too glorious
for ye heathens imitators.
The lists and the annals
shall speak of our strength
whilst ye shall be consigned
to the dust of history
and barren wastelands of thought.
With incisive words as swords
reams of lines as sharp spears
and authorship for shields
we do attack and destroy thee
to eradicate from sight, from mind
the barbaric plague of plagiarism.
