Hand in hand
Hand in hand, like a girlfriends girlfriend
Cheap shades, hide comedowns and highs
Like b list celebrities, we like to pretend
A version of happiness, in daylight disguise
I smile into shop windows, trying to sell
Goods, slowly unravelling at the seams
City wide, holding hands, casting a spell
Magic dust, every motion composed of dreams
Fingers interlocked, navigating humanity
Holding on, desperately, tight for dear life
Tenuously connected by increasing fragility
White gold, blood diamonds, never my wife
Like vampires we hide from the sunlight
Share pills with a kiss, underneath a sheet
In the darkness we snort, fuck and fight
Lose days and nights as we rinse and repeat
Safe in the reality we created
Cracks appear, become inevitably cruel
Hands held tight together, we loved and hated
Both letting go, then behaving like some b list fool
Fingertips brush one last time
Brutal daylight, oxytocin run dry
Neo noir love story, peppered with crime
Cheap shades hide a comedown, tears I cant deny
Cheap shades, hide comedowns and highs
Like b list celebrities, we like to pretend
A version of happiness, in daylight disguise
I smile into shop windows, trying to sell
Goods, slowly unravelling at the seams
City wide, holding hands, casting a spell
Magic dust, every motion composed of dreams
Fingers interlocked, navigating humanity
Holding on, desperately, tight for dear life
Tenuously connected by increasing fragility
White gold, blood diamonds, never my wife
Like vampires we hide from the sunlight
Share pills with a kiss, underneath a sheet
In the darkness we snort, fuck and fight
Lose days and nights as we rinse and repeat
