Not the Right Person

You are not a bad person, but things
Between us were simply not meant to
Be. You taught me how to use my wings

And taught me the reasons why I grew
Up overnight like a Cinderella tale. I did
Not want any fairy tale, but I wanted you

Simple as that. Things came to a skid
And halt because we could not keep any
Of this up at the same rate so I had to bid

You goodbye for good this time. A penny
To remind me of the rainy days. The gifts
You gave me tucked away with plenty

Of memories to remember. The cliffs
And mountains I would climb for you, but
It would not be the same. Graveyard shifts,

Coming to me bone tired, but the one rut
You dug me in got me stuck. I would be
Right here. You did not know all of what

I would do for you in this lifetime, but we
Could not give each other what we wanted.
I wish that we could have been carefree

In this forever, but questions haunted
My mind, plaguing doubts into the seeds
We would grow. I was feeling unwanted.
