Mom, I am Only...

Mom, mom, look how high I am.
Mommy, watch me hold on the outside.
The escalator is such a slide!
MOM! MOM! It is too high!
Mom, I am only five.

Mom, they won’t play with me.
They left me in the dust,
Slammed the door on me.
They think I am a stinky musk.
Mom, I am only ten.

Mom, let me go;
But, secretly, I still need you
To sing me to sleep at night
And maybe run the show.
Mom, I am only fifteen.

Mom, you’re the best!
You formed the very best.
I will always do my best.
You keep telling me “That’s plenty.”
Yeah, I am only twenty.
