Mom, mom, look how high I am.
Mommy, watch me hold on the outside.
The escalator is such a slide!
MOM! MOM! It is too high!
Mom, I am only five.
Mom, they won’t play with me.
They left me in the dust,
Slammed the door on me.
They think I am a stinky musk.
Mom, I am only ten.
Mom, let me go;
But, secretly, I still need you
To sing me to sleep at night

Almost Goodnight
Fuck, You are so hard to say goodnight to
And if I keep talking I will regret it
I will say let’s be friends
I might say I love you
I might say I fear you
I might say your the one for me
Thus it is good night and so long
But there you go keep typing
I hope for a question that will keep me
That I have to type one more message
One more never hurt
But then one more is all night
All night is scratting at all day
All day is pawing for something more
Something more leads to forever
It keeps coming back to...

Words, words, on a page,
Do you utter them in the dark?
Are they whispers in my ear?
Or is there another, beating your heart?
My heart pounds at every verbiage.
How long will you haunt my nights?
Whisper in my dreams of ever after,
Of Rings. And babies. And forevers.
We said no.
Your words said maybe.
My heart cries love,
My mind says someday.
No. Maybe. Love. Someday.
Just words, words on a page.
