Office Dweller
Desperation
Nagging at my structure
Collapsed foundation
Similar to brittle bones
Of my rib cage
An anxious air that fills them
Shaking
My dungeon is
My shelter
But today I am told
That I must sacrifice
This very special space
This dreaded workplace
Uncertainty reigns
With the rise and fall
Of my disdain
Evicted
I have been forced
Out of my cave
Reluctant
I will my feet to walk
To my temporary station
On the filthy sales floor
Avoiding customers like the plague
Frantic Friday consumers
They plot to mold my misery
For your safety
And my own sanity
Please
Keep your distance
Less I be forced to use this
Stapler to silence your lips
As I see fit
Author's Note

LOL! Bravo! You penned the retail experience from an employees point of view perfectly! This is both humorous and yet sad for a recluse.
But, hey, POETRY! 📝💖
Another great offering, Gem! I would suggest the same regarding caps that I did for the previous. 📌📎

“But, hey, POETRY!“ - my thoughts precisely lol.
I felt I could have taken this even further, as my mood unfortunately continued to degress throughout the day... an axe to the fax machine was in store 😬 😇
Post work = 🚬🚬🚬🚬
Thanks for your comments Ahavati!

Working from home, and being cognizant of
client niceties, smoke and metaphorical dart
holes pepper the walls which surround the
broken furniture, leftovers from the many
previous Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Truly enjoyed this peek inside your mind,
for humor is the best way to deal with our
daily tribulations, placing them in order of
importance in the overall scheme of life.
Nicely done.

What would we do without a little bit of satire for those oh-so-pleasant customers/clients? =)
Humor does adequately relieve the stress of the work place from time to time. Thank you for sharing your experience as well Teri!

Wow, you've nailed down perfectly being pulled out of the comfort zone. I sit front and center of my office myself. No choice in the matter. But I also know my presence there keeps the heart of it ticking along. It balances my knee jerk need to hide away from human contact some days. Much enjoyed this one. I can relate to the stapler. Completely. :-)

Yes sometimes being forced out of our comfort zones can prove beneficial after all =) I share an office with 2 other people, but it is one of the only ‘office’ jobs in the entire store, so for this position I am grateful!
Thank you for sharing yourself Willow =)

That is really soulful and honest and I enjoy how it's a bit playful in a self depricating way. I suffer with anxiety too and you describe it well. "brittle bones of my rib cage" is perfect. Really good write

This is like reading Sartre's "Nausea" over again...the everyday angst rubbing against one's freedom and the choices we can or cannot choose. Superb!!!

Upon researching, I am intrigued by your reference to Satre. Seems a fitting relation to the mood I've painted here, great feedback Harry! Thank you kindly for your remarks, spot on =)
