Intersecting circles
overlapping and intertwined
both sharing certain characteristics
and common qualities

both are whole however
each is distinct in itself
contains data not shared
but unique alone

one is not inside another
neither subsumed nor dependent
not a subset of a bigger circle
nor a part or piece of something greater

they can be separated
pulled apart, divided
without losing integrity,
shape or completeness

when you are away
my blue is still blue
and your red red
only the purple disappears

there are circles in my circles
and circles within yours
that overlap only a little
and contain data not shared

yet there are other circles
connected to me not you
and you have your connections
not held in common with mine

when we do overlap
one upon the other
partly, never completely
we create a different color

that complements
both yours and mine
without replacing
the two originals
