.......with all the crap we've inherited regarding SELF,
a culture of self-corruption has evolved
over the whole issue of SELF,
needing a deep reassessment
of the deeper meaning of these 'things'.
Self-respect has taken on more an aspect of basic self-aggrandizing, "selfishness", at the cost of cultivating respect for other sentient beings. (people, & all other creatures in our realm)......................"

I agree. It's a broad and complex topic, but it does seem like people have overcorrected into narcissism.
