The Absence of Starlight

You dissipated in the span of one day

The musings like a daily vitamin
to draw me from the turtle shell

Guiding me through the black night
in sporadic illumination

Fragile rhymes
meditative monologues
tinged in titillation
and poignancy

You exposed your lithe body
and your feminine mind
to those lurking
in the depths of this ink well

Your commentary pulled us along
and inspired us to keep excavating
our own buried treasures

It always takes one person
usually a man,
to start a witch hunt

And he succeeded in rattling
the security you once found
underground

No one reads me anymore
and I am feeling compelled
to follow you back to isolation

To plaster my walls
in the manic notes
of obscurity
and drown in my pain
for another ten years.
