Namaste

Midnight at the reservoir
No wind on the water
Leather jacket
Skullcap
Cold can hardly touch me
Hardly reach its
Phantom
Fingers
Through all this armor
Feel overdressed, so
I pocket the cap and
Throw
The jacket
Over my shoulder
Stroll along
Feeling a might dapper
😏

Sitting by the still waters
Now
Which form a perfect
Unbroken
Faux night sky
Face of waters
Atmospheric miter
Gaze serenely
Upon the other
Unmoved by wind
Weather
Or me

Train begins to pound and wail down the tracks
Two bull geese in the water honk and flap at each other
Another perfect mirror
If less harmonious
No less integral to the natural order
I sit somewhere between
In my human skins
Waters below
Heavens above
Holding a scepter of peace and violence
In either hemisphere of self awareness

Clouds part and reveal the moon
Like lashes
Lid
And luminous eye
Just as I raise my head
To gaze at the sky
As if preordained
Though
I claim no prescience
In this instance
It interests and amuses me to contemplate
All things
Coalescing
In this moment
By chance
By choice
Or some purposeful design
Of fate
Perhaps all
None
Or something
Unknowable
To a creature
Such as your humble narrator
I put my chips on that final possibility
I bet on the big and impenetrable question mark
That lay in the attending physicians hands
At my birth
And will stand sentinel
Over my final rest
The only true and lasting marker

Cheeks are rough with growth
Breath steams from nostrils
In a clash with the colder air
Not unlike the geese
Or the clouds
Not unlike the composition of waters
Empyrean
You or I
All composed of energy
And if you hear me
Now
In the labyrinth of your mind
And if the heart that animates these words
Stirs the one within your breast
Then I say to you
Pause

Feel one palm press upon the other
Drawn over heart
Listen to the awakened voice
Of Buddha nature
Hear it's ancient wisdom speak
Through me
Feel it answer
Within yourself

Draw me in, like breath
I shall breathe in the anima
That you now breathe
Into me
And as we gaze
Placidly
Upon each other
In this moment
You and I are one
