The Death of a Poem
The light turned off
Behind his eyes
Words no longer dance
In the moonlight
She took his song
and stole his heart
His lovers lips
No more to part
As darkness fills
the everglow
of the summers day
He'll never know
I was once a soldier
marching against the night
now staring at the ceiling
heart pounding in endless fright
Each breath burns with icy chills
Screaming a silence that fills his mind
Unwanted, unloved, ignored until silent
until feelings stir toxic, and emotions grow violent
I don't know what to do,
nothing feels right.
I am sitting in bed
bathed in computer light
holding back tears, alone in the middle of the night
I've been putting myself out there with hope for so long
that the hope finally died
and I don't know how to go on.
I'm alone, I'm exhausted,
I feel empty, and cold.
No one to talk to
No one to hold.
Behind his eyes
Words no longer dance
In the moonlight
She took his song
and stole his heart
His lovers lips
No more to part
As darkness fills
the everglow
of the summers day
He'll never know
I was once a soldier
marching against the night
now staring at the ceiling
heart pounding in endless fright
Each breath burns with icy chills
Screaming a silence that fills his mind
Unwanted, unloved, ignored until silent
until feelings stir toxic, and emotions grow violent
I don't know what to do,
nothing feels right.
I am sitting in bed
bathed in computer light
holding back tears, alone in the middle of the night
I've been putting myself out there with hope for so long
that the hope finally died
and I don't know how to go on.
I'm alone, I'm exhausted,
I feel empty, and cold.
No one to talk to
No one to hold.
