Forgotten Home
I walked out
of the warmth
of home
and into the cold
of winter,
only to notice something
had changed.
I wasn't sure
what it was
at first,
I felt like I was
missing a part
of myself that I had
carried with me
since I was young,
but I couldn't quite place
the absence.
I had been walking
down the street
as the snow blew around
my body
and I came to
the realization that
I had forgotten
my cell phone at home.
