The Light in Your Gift
The Light in Your Gift
Sometimes all I think of is the look that was in your eyes,
The kind of look that mesmerize,
The kind of look that ties,
The kind of look that never dies
I remember that day quite clearly,
The way you were that day, somewhat silly
But that childhood innocence remains
I remember back to a time when your passion was love
When the world use to embrace your gift,
And your audience welcoming
You owned a light that couldn’t be ignored
And a shine that others felt rewarded in
You gave the world something to see
And a strong voice for all to hear…
That was before you decided to disappear
Before all the lights dimmed, before the curtains drew
Before, it was on that stage… a man and what he’s been through
I remember the look in your eyes,
The way your self-esteemed rise, and it was by no surprise,
The way we in the audience would meet you there
Inside your words, and with great care
We attentively listened and allowed our spirits to be moved
It was the way you grooved
Your rhythm and your rhyme
You used to have us all hooked on every line
Ah, yes, I remember that time
Perhaps that’s why when I reminisce,
I can’t resist, to go back inside my mind
Back to the look that was in your eyes
The kind of look that mesmerize,
The kind of look that ties,
The kind of look that never dies…
I try to forget, believe me I tried,
But I realize, that there is nothing more important to you than this
Not the lights, not the stage
Not quite the words written on that page,
But the meaning behind them, the voice behind it
The light in your gift, in the words you choose to uplift
And the love that is so wrapped inside your passion
