Oh To Be in Love

Watching the shadow of the smoke
On the wall
A flame now put out
And then another
Find me peeling oranges and humming somewhere

He says things that dance on my eye lashes
He says things that kiss the tendrils of hair before my ear so softly
It makes me wish for you again
It makes me wonder if I had always wished for you
Or if that was a dream
Oh to be this romantic
Oh to be in love

Curse my fingers and toes
Let me run naked into the darkness
Maybe never to return
Maybe to dance by the light of the moon
Before the howling of the night swallows me whole

Would you miss me if I was gone
Would you look for me
In the corners of a piece of paper
Oh to be unafraid of the small things
Oh to be benign of pretense

Your breathing
Is distanced from me
Whispers keep telling me of my soul
And they are not good
I imagine many things
And places
We could be
Awake and asleep
I am realizing many things
Even though I have been warned
Of rummination
Oh to be accepting of the universe
Oh to be calm
