Survival Guide
Genocide survives
in my blood
a permanant existence
of Cherokee and Jew
gifted by ancestors
no longer human
I'm a natural born survivor
disbelieving, at times
in the power of Love
to deliver souls
from a holocaust
Tribal extinction
validates that belief
So does a broken heart
Gone are the Asan, Bo
Emishi, and Ware
Also Us
as we once were
The beauty of Survival
is that it lives -
becomes an exodus
fleeing a rooted past
Follows Love's voice regardless
submits to vast deserts
lifetimes without a compass
if that's what it takes
Clinging despite confusion
when all hope abates
Relying on manna
honey-caked deliveries
for sustained strength
Feeling through dust
for a trickle of calm
beyond blind faith
. . .
I have no answers
as to whys of anything
how some incidents pass
easily through forgiveness
while others flay flesh
in the teepee of our ribs
Except to know there is
somewhere up ahead
quiet respites from noise
. . .
Beyond worldly annihilation
and human error lies
the cumulation of experience
A Promised Land of Truth
where everything makes sense
We'll wonder as we wander
through the Library of Us
recorded from the Beginning
of this, our forgotten Source
how, even without a guide
for survival, we could've ever
doubted arriving together
