Crying with the flying cranes

I can imagine
looking up at the sky
with wonder
waiting to see what will happen next

lights
lit up
strobing
laughing
waving
like grain in the breeze
cradling the night

the wet
weighing me down
cracking of the sky
scores of
thunder
Orchestra Cymbal's
crashing
almost waking me from the dream

i saw beauty in your face
creases so sweet
lips
lulling me into a slumber
the fog of my memories
grew thicker
quicker
than i could catch a cold

in the distance
i doubted i was sane
the clouds thinned
thawing ice
the calm came quietly
coaxing me into my own lies
i'd never hear you laugh again
