Sunlight
Reflecting on the alkaline waters
Of the Salt Creek
Through the brush, now naked
In cool of December, I wonder
Where are they hiding?
I wonder, where are the Tiger Beetles?
Here on the banks of Loess, soft and lovely
This salty creek winding through the Prairies breast
They make their last stand
Today we will remain as strangers
Among shadows and footprints I leave behind
