Shame
the day haunted me
& the night offered no shade
the moon laughed
while i run from demons
the sun witnessed
& turned away
my pain to bare alone
i harbor it
travail as a woman in labor
i give birth to it
& name it
i call him shame
hide him from the world
covet his nature
& feed him my loneliness
he grows
in the empty places
fills the void with his voice
his song is melancholy
& i weep for its beauty
never to be heard
humanity doesn't speak his language
he speaks in riddles
he questions
"mother do you know me?"
i answer
"i bore you of wolves
that ravaged
my virgin soul
tore into it
& injected their torment"
"in agony i birthed you
raised you up
to be a fine man
i will rename you"
"Truth"

The shame seems demonic, but when Truth is born all is well. All that pain, then serenity. .. A gorgeous poetic fable...

thank you dearest Sir Crow you read between the lines so well.. yes I too believe the shame was born of demonic torment.. then after time truth is born of pain & all is well.. love your interpretation..

Very reflective of my own feelings today, though I cannot give birth, so I hide mine within.
I wish I had words to comfort you with dearest Brenda...

My love, I had to read this one several times because of the way my mind works...but I think perhaps I understand...for me, if shame is felt then there is guilt there as well and if we are courageous enough to recognize and accept those truths, then only peace will be there to find...it is when one doesn't own those, only denying their existence, they will remain in a torturous place...I could still be way off but....I've been known for that, ltm...I love this regardless for the message it brings to me :)
I love you madly, deeply
yours always & forever

Love the smooth transition and how it flows into the idea...
Very beautifully done deliverance!
How do you hold and give birth to your darkness, and shame into a work of such grace?
Admired dear Crim...

To take what one considers to be ugly and forlorn and nurture it and grow it into something beautiful and innocent in its newborn skin is a very loving thing to do for one's self. I am so in love with this piece, my beautiful Dark Angel. You have such a gift for creating imagery by word that we can see and hear and feel. I do so love you :-)
