Quenched By Fire (Romans 12:19-20)

Written by Nathaniel Peter (cloventongue89) and Mikaila Van Otten (AtoMikbomb)

Mercy is my greatest vengeance
 I spare for vindication
 Stones to harlot
 Truth speaks
I'm caught red handed with a gavel
 Victim to my own judgements
Who are we to decide our fates
Though forgiveness is easier said than displayed
No debts resigned in the will to love an enemy
But I swallow the bullet when it comes down to the culprit in the mirror
Working up an appetite for wrath
My failure feeds on chaos, starving for the aftermath

Embers tremble
 tucked into my palms
 tinder torched to
 bury these vicious
 forgeries
 til' they're scorched
 their sorceries force-fed me
 so much septic seed
 I ache...(need)
 unearthly remedies

I eat the carrion crow (I've continually carried...)
 a dandy antecedent
to heap heat upon on the
 headstrong

Breaking hollow heartbreak
 the Holy Ghost plows ...
 finishing my fallow ground
 interceding with His sounds

Provisions of revenge
 A pleasure to bestow
 Love with ulterior motive
To provoke the threshing floor winnow

Chaff like ashes to dead ways
What I despise in another, truest of me
 Venom injested at the heart
The prison meant for you becomes my captivity

Stones at the core tangled in the roots
 Compromised foundations
 Offspring of forbidden fruits

Blessed to be accursed by everything I feel
As to spare in heart or become casualty with every memory I kill
I hate you because I love you still
Is it your eyes or my own reflection I ask
 How can this be real?

In gashes below I bathe
 slowly soaking
 in bitter rock salt
 seas

I sate the thirst in brackish waves
 enslaved to this craving
 engraved in these ways

Paved into ruts
 obscene
 nightmares stuck on replay
 I proceed...
 to fill them in kerosene

And burn us both away
