I'm Happy to Have a New Friend
The words spoken from the chemically influenced mind
Poison of a tongue manufactured in a fit of passionate rage
In the factory of what I call a broken heart
Fueled by whiskey I chose to keep the demons away
Could have prevented a friendship that we have recovered today
The irony of such desperate measures
The way I chose to forget you with the doses of cheap whiskey
Only made me want to lash out
Pin you up against a wall with crooked claws
Rusted and gnarled much like a broken nail in the back of a broken child
Today I chose to put the bottle away
And renew my life and be your friend again
If I can never have you as a lover
If I can never feel your body against mine again
I know that is okay... For a strong friendship for us both
Is as beautiful as the day we first embraced
