Remembering You Like a Photograph

You are like an old and faded photograph
Because I still keep you close to my heart.
I can still feel and remember your laugh
That echoed every time we would dart
Into the rain, getting soaked to the bone.
I envied your shirt and jeans that clings
To your body. Your voice on the phone,
I miss that, even with the little things
We would talk about. When I close
My eyes I could picture your angelic
Smile that still knocks and blows
Me over. You are my remedy and relic.
Darling, if I could take it all back,
Especially if it keeps hurting you,
I would. If we could go back to a black
Sky and a new start we would. I know to
Apologize now would not mean
Anything, but I still continue to say sorry
Because I put pain into those green
And pretty eyes. I took away that starry
Sky that used to give you faith and hope.
I wish you would begin to believe again
Even when I took away your rope.
I hope it will continue to break the chain
Around your good heart. Even when I am
Gone you will still be like a commemorated
Photograph. The emotions will still slam
Into me until it has all weighted
Me down to the bottom because I know
That I messed up with you and your glow.
