Autumn Brown and Tan
The forest wears a new carpet
Different from yesterdays
A mix of dark brown and light tan
And all shades in between
There are occasional flecks
Of moss green and gorse yellow
Like a carpet from the 1970’s
The ones that you couldn’t look
At the pattern when you were
Drunk for fear on motion sickness
Without alcohol the pattern changes
Every day, as does the texture
Sometimes hard baked pile
Sometimes damp and soft
Then suddenly without warning
The carpet is pure white
Its pile is cold and crisp
I fear winter is upon us

My basement has a 70s carpet just like that on the stairs. Landlord thinks it's cool. It's not forest cool or David cool though. Loving the forest walks! Hippy forest hugs! ☺

Than you so much - I always like it when you like my poetry - gave me a huge smile :-)
Re. Autumn Brown and Tan
I immediately thought of the Bostonians drink, Black and Tan, which is Sam Adams over Guinness, which also goes good with Autumn, I love vintage area rugs, I have several hanging at home and I think they have that yellow color you mentioned, and thick pile of course. I like the comparison of leaves to a carpet, great imagery...

David my friend, I read this while viewing my backyard, trees all over (some recently removed because of unappreciative new neighbors) and leaves falling to the ground...your words have mixed in perfectly with all I see in front of me...along with the temperature... very, very cool!
Tons of warm fuzzies sent your way!!
