Frayed
Sometimes it's difficult
Believing disentangled fibers
retain their strength
can hold their weight
in purpose and wisdom
despite unraveling
Doubt frays possibility;
a second hand separating
braided hemp until lacked Faith
would bid us each stranded
Dream a wasted space
But, there are those of Us
who do not give up
despite what we know;
the Future isn't guaranteed
Still, we remain open
to what could be weaved
from remaining theory
...
I don't know if a bird
with a broken neck can fly
or if Water is older than Light
if diamonds crack
in hot goat's blood
or mountaintops
give off cold fire
There are many things
I'll never know alive. . .
and a few I've learnt
But, if an emptied heart
can swell again, and a man
grown numb by circumstance
can feel content in Hope
Then I Believe Love can knot
two middle-aged Romantics
despite how frayed their Trust
~

doubt has its role
as an antidote to
certainty
and love
does indeed
tie one (or other) up
in knots .. :)

What a solid metaphor carried throughout the entire poem. Absolutely LOVE this! And talk about romantic . . . . . 💜

My poor Lil mentality is frayed from the
wealth of what this contains...thoughtful, deeply introspective, wisdom laden buffet of mind food... :)

....all things may be overcome, if all involved have such a sight as you have so elegantly laced out here. Ahavati, thank you for sharing such ever-wise perspectives <3

Thank you, Gem of a Nightbird. I'd say deep sapphire, midnight blue with fire inside. ❤

ESPECIALLY the broken, Harleea. They are those who appreciate the definition of Love, having tasted the bitter contrast of betrayal. Thank you for your continued support and openness to Truth. xo

I listen to music usually when I am writing comments and as I was reading this poem the track L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole - after reading I felt totally romanced - such a beautifully crafted poem, but yours always are :-)
best tribute to this kind of poem is that I loved it :-)

The metaphor is irresistable. The opening stanza is compassion wrapped in innocence, welcoming me into the deliciousness of entanglement and the rawness of disentanglement. Bravo.
