Keeper of Her Heart

You make it so HARD
not to sacrifice consequence
to the seeming God of division. . .
white lines and brilliant lights
so warm in appearance
as though this lifetime
what few years remain
is worth relinquishing
over a single night of experience
a Venn Diagram protectorant --
an Alternate Reality of existence
that the veil can be lifted;
But, it would not be Poetic
only a selfishness attempt
at a compromised grasp
For who wins a race cutting
route through a forest;
the trees watch and know
despite who holds the trophy
My Father once told me safety
and Trust were the most coveted
haven a man could lay his head
and Spirit to rest in this world
Not like Delilah's cradled lap
under ivory mobiles of breast
where intention and shear
sabbotage snip away strength
But a studied appraiser
whose expertise recognizes
the value of an Honest man
by virtue of his contrast
the endless trove of weight
accompanying His difficult
decisions to remain unscathed
by the betrayal of Hope
Through these times a woman
is tried, her heart a portrait
of patience behind integrity;
the key a locket of choice
Faint flickers of compromise
temp her to forget herself
alluring as Venus hiding
sulfuric gases behind shine
But she is a Southern Provence
strongly soft lavender of being
wafting aroma growing
seasonally among tares
She is gathered and pressed
spread over damaged skin
molded into wax pillars
to emit the calm of scent
dripped into a hot bath
with chamomile for sleep
adorns tension as a compress
is constant in growth
Her Light is her touch;
her touch is balm He extracts
by honor and virtue
being the Keeper of her Heart
She desires not to be a starry planet
masked by shine and misunderstood
but fertile ground that he may sow
his lifetime into

And, come harvest moon
reap in the safety of her Love
partaking the bounty of Trust

All the while. . .Her fingers
lightly combing his locks
