Here I Lie

Softly falls
the light of day
upon the sound
of your last goodbye

in comes darkness
from above
giving comfort
while I die

a shot in the stomach
a stab in the back
one real wound
one only figurative

this is not how
I thought dying would feel
a spreading numbness
thoughts of, "please, don't let me die"

too little pressure
so much blood
no one can save me
as you walk away
