Here I Lie
Softly falls
the light of day
upon the sound
of your last goodbye
in comes darkness
from above
giving comfort
while I die
a shot in the stomach
a stab in the back
one real wound
one only figurative
this is not how
I thought dying would feel
a spreading numbness
thoughts of, "please, don't let me die"
too little pressure
so much blood
no one can save me
as you walk away
the light of day
upon the sound
of your last goodbye
in comes darkness
from above
giving comfort
while I die
a shot in the stomach
a stab in the back
one real wound
one only figurative
this is not how
I thought dying would feel
a spreading numbness
thoughts of, "please, don't let me die"
too little pressure
so much blood
no one can save me
as you walk away
