Whew!, so relieved dejure gave me an out on this one. I waited until someone possibly would, for I had no clue what the last stanza was referring to. But, like the comment, I liked the rest of it.

OK, the brain must now go waste time on mundane matters.

..the dust itself    
where it originates    
why and what it does    
obviously origin is the dust itself losing the bond    
of the material it belonged to    
and the cause internal and/or external

covered"    
   
this is another story    
if read in one sentence    
the answer lay inside the dust, covered.    
   
here the 'inside' depicts -covered beneath thick layers of dust. the extent of time that it continued..
