Builder's Dreams

I want to write a poem for a princess
or perhaps for a knight
I want to build them a castle
with walls untouched by light
I want to write a song for a goddess
in palace of stone
I want to write for the stars
up high and alone
I want to sing for an angel
and whisper prayers upon skin
I want to drown in a riverbed
washed away are my sins
I want to love, love again
but then I'd have to fall
I want to die in my dreams
or just not live at all
I want to marry a painter
who would steady my hand
I want to create something solid
but I don't think I can
I want to shout from the rooftops
my voice heavy with truth
I want to set fire to the city
and burn myself, too
