Papers
I marvel at it’s simplicity
I ponder my own complicity
Took twenty six days to create it
Would take no time to collate it
I stare at it for ages and wonder
Is it perfect or just a blunder
It’s clear, directly to the point
It doesn’t break there’s no disjoint
There’s nothing here to cause debate
It isn’t crap; it isn’t great
It isn’t bad; it isn’t good
It doesn’t give me thought for food
No pen and ink, no pencil scribble
No bold typeface, no inkjet dribble
I can do no more, it’s now complete
I present to you: my blank white sheet
I ponder my own complicity
Took twenty six days to create it
Would take no time to collate it
I stare at it for ages and wonder
Is it perfect or just a blunder
It’s clear, directly to the point

Read this 10 minutes after posting my latest, coincidence or fate.
Maybe something is speaking to us both.
Either way, I like yours better.
Great post.

I really enjoyed this David .. knowing you created the paper makes it that much more special .. contemplating the blankness of it before finding the proper words to bleed onto it ... and would it add or take away? .. well done !

That's wonderful David ... I have a dear friend who has kind of adopted me, she's 84 and a wonderful artist .. she has portfolios of paper she has created from nature that she has shared with me, they are breathtakingly beautiful .. how wonderful that you have found another avenue for your creative spirit ... ♡

Paper making is an art just as poetry. To create both is a gift indeed. To pen it even more so.

O, David...the history, behind the ancient art of crafting paper, truly is fascinating! To think that the whole process, from beginning, to finished product, was entirely processed by hand! It is inspiring to discover that you have been given the opportunity to create own special piece! And, just as with this poem, that sheet will contain a part of you....remaining as a sort of legacy.
Mo Chara ...may the spirits of the Druids whisper inspiration in your ear,.... and may the soul of the tree, that contributed to your paper creation, guide your pen.... as your blank parchment fills with words that honor your forest haven.
Truly enjoyed the metaphor of this one--both figuratively, and literally! .
