Night to day

Restless, sitting thinking
Tired eyes blinking
Moon above glowing
Passing clouds flowing
Wishing to a starless sky

Too late to be awake
Still, I sit as the night does take
Take away my rest
Aching heart beating my chest
Night, pass on by

Neighbors sleeping deep
I know I should be asleep
However, there is a scent tickling my nose
Your perfume, I suppose
Now I wonder if this will pass

Haunting me
Taunting me
Caressing me
Stressfully
Causing my heart to beat so fast

Its pain outside on the porch
Moonlight casting light like a torch
Glowing upon my lone chair
You are not there
I won't step into the night

Haven't gotten used to yet
Can't seem to forget
I am learning to be alone
Oh night leave me, be gone
Please, so I can sleep tight

Sheets against my skin
Pillows I sink in
Praying the sleep will come
With a blink I see the sun
Worn and tired is a man waking down

No star dust
No more us
No more dreams
Just loneliness hanging around

One cup of coffee
Beside an empty cup
One cold, one hot with steam

Still, there is two cups
Put one up
Reach for the sugar and cream
