Knowing You Better

I should know you better than anyone else because
I have spent so much time studying your features
And everything that is you, but as life takes a pause
There are parts of you I do not know. In the bleachers
Like we are back in high school, conversing about
Things as random as the weather and everything
In between. I am reading you and there is no doubt
I fell right in with you. This is nowhere close to a fling
And something that is temporary. You are not just
Someone who fills the void or is just a placeholder.
We have to keep growing and continue to trust
Each other. I want to rest against your shoulder
And to forget about the rest of the world in this
Moment because being with you brings me some
Kind of peace. It is more than feeling every kiss
Because it is about that connection felt from
Deep within our souls and that cannot be felt
Anywhere else. It is a chance and not a mistake
Because you are one of the few who has dealt
With every single heartbreak after heartbreak  
Like I have done a thousand times. I have gotten
So used to people not wanting me like I really want  
Them, but I have realized that you will not be one
Of those many people. I cannot let any of it haunt  
Me when people keep saying no. I wish we can run
Off into the sunset together, but life is not always
Like fairy tales because our life is like navigating
All the twists, turns, ups and downs of a maze.
This world will never stop revolving or rotating,
So why should we let anything or anyone stop us?
I am not going to stop fighting until there is
Nothing left anymore. Only then we will discuss
An end because things can only begin to fizz
And bubble for so long. This champagne
And rosy appearance does not last forever, but
I know that we will see through the rain.  
There are doors that are meant to be shut.
