I Can't Act Like I Used To

You let go of me a long time ago,
but unfortunately for me I couldn't let you go.
I think about what would be best and I already know.
I hide what I feel,
it's better for you to never know.
I will no longer show you feelings so secret.
I will no longer let you hear my voice,
see my face,
or feel my touch.
You wish for me to be like I used to be,
but I just can't do that.
For to do that would mean to forget everything,
everything I treasure dear.
Even one memory I wish to never forget.
The feeling of finally being loved for being me and only me.
