What if there was no threat?
Then we could all heal but never forget
The images of total travesty that makes us anger and grieve
And toss around thoughts in our futility
Could we trade the angst and sorrow?
Hope and pray for a better morrow?
It is not the nature of our beings
To look past all we are seeing
The ones who serve and pray
Put themselves in harm's way every day
They are not lovers of combat and pain
Nor mongors for pillage and gain
They didn't ask to be shipped o'er seas
They want what we want
To just let it be
I commend you for your ultimate sacrifice for the sake of good will
As for me and many others, we salute you still
