Little One
Little one
Beware of those
With nervy noses steered aloft
In airs too thick
To form clear pathways
They who plod proudly down
Hanging hearts of millions
Strung like trophies
Recessed and abscessed
Down
Bloodied hallways
Be no levee
Indeed
Don't begin to be
Privy to speech
Where amity ends
Avoid vibes that
Quickly ferment
Once someone's use is spent
Weigh as a warning
The tone of an adder
Rounding back again
When sentiment's bent
Know the woven
Patterns
A life paved in braided
Arts
Celtic knots of stalking
Thoughts
Deep and tangled
Take no part
Of
Oily and ornate
Snake trails
Endings sending
You to swooning stupors
Sweet girl
Learn the hollow thrum
Bones of the heart
Aching under exhaust
And your spilled kindnesses
Snatched from your source
Even the strike of that sight
When
Thieving
They leave with your marrow
Caught in their teeth
Little one
Crown your mind
In elegance and symmetry
Let lucidity lead
Your memories
Nod
Always to nobility
Remember the sweetness
Of bracing
Of embracing
Fresh fidelity

A letter to my daughters, in hopes they will won't hurt needlessly as I have.
