The Lesson
If we are all made in God’s Image why are we, as a species,
So ungodly? I have toiled over this question for some years
and have yet to come up with an answer that satisfies.
If we look at the god of the bible it does get a little clearer.
The God of the old testament was full of vengeance and rage
Leading us to kill and go to war. He committed genocide, murder
And torture and yet in the New Testament he is guilty of healing
The sick, raising the dead and extreme acts of love and sacrifice.
On the face of it, God appears to be very, very human. He has the
Capacity for extreme evil coupled with a capacity for ultimate sacrifice
And love. We have a god who clearly makes mistakes, who reacts in
Inappropriate ways and acts foolishly. This flies in the face of God
Being infallible and clichés such as ‘god is love’. Maybe it’s true that
We as humans have created god in our image.
This would make more sense of god but at the same time establishing
That he in fact was not a god, merely an imaginary being dreamt up
By a human mind. God does not move or act in mysterious ways, he simply
Acts like the human being that created him.
A satisfactory answer therefore is that God is not a God he is a concept
Dreamt up by those who want power over others, those who want to exact,
Money, sex and power from the masses through fear of inadequacy and terror
Of the unknown and death - this has been done since we crawled out of the swamp,
well before the bible and its so called god.
All religion is man made; following such a religion is just a form of mental illness
as a result of our inherent feelings of inadequacy
standing before the awesome power and vision of nature.
So endeth the lesson
