Submerged

I

What I would say to you is
My mentality has been under
Your palm twisted around
Your fingers
And that will be no more.
You expected me to be
Submerged into this dream
That was so far from current
Reality that I felt
Trapped within the depths
Of your own hurt
Your own lack of identity.
Blamed for passivity
Chained to retreating
Into old patterns
Of a life desperate and ugly.
But I am not the weak
And forsaken woman
Who you took me as.

II

What I would say to you is
That you were undeserved.
And I apologise that I
Was not what you wanted
Me to be
You wanted me
Submerged into your world
And I could not conjure up
Enough to stay by you
I am sorry
Truly
I know I threw more daggers
Then I removed
So please move on
Please shape your idea
Of love different to
Who you took me as.

III

What I would say to you is
You took me into the stars
I was submerged in the
Galaxies of the open sky
And conversation
I was taken into
Your arms simultaneously
Into the atmosphere
But I do not need a fling
Or to be fucked
And as the cosmos
Strips the oxygen from
Your lungs
So does your meaning
Of the word love.
And I needed to fall in love
And in the moment I did
Yet, now the time clicks
And clicks and all I do
Is reminisce on
Who you took me as.

I • II • III

Submerged I may
Or may not have been
Still, possessed I will not be.
