Thank you Ahavati for your continued support. That which betrayed me was alcohol - For a long time it was a trusted friend, provided relief, gave me courage, inspired creativity, offered solace and aided celebration.  It enabled me, or so I thought, to endure the painful act of living. Until it didn't and it took away all that I cared about. As it turns out, it failed to safeguard me against my demons but fuelled them instead. Sober now but mourning the loss of the longest relationship I have had...yet recognising and accepting the need for it to end.

Ive just recently overcome my own addictions and this poem really hit me in the feels. I love the vocabulary but The pure emotion in it just grabbed me from the start. Thank you for sharing this.
